The museums’ priority is to inspire architects- design- and crafts students.
The museum aims to inspire an interest in furniture studies. It is aimed primarily at those studying architecture, design and crafts, but everyone with an interest in design is welcome. The collection of Scandinavian and international objects from different periods illustrates the development of functions, materials and techniques. The museum aims to create a platform for the development of tomorrow’s furniture design.
The museum organizes workshops for design colleges. The idea is to give the students a design-historical overview with the opportunity for in-depth study.
Arranging seminars on relevant topics is an important part of the museum’s activities. Speakers with different experiences provide broad perspectives and inspiring ideas.
To stimulate collaborations between design students and furniture manufacturers, the museum organizes network meetings on a regular basis.
The museum was founded by architects Kersti Sandin and Lars Bülow.
The Museum of Furniture Studies was founded in 2017 by Swedish architects and designers Kersti Sandin and Lars Bülow. With over 40 years of experience from different areas of the world of design, industry and academy, they decided to share their vast private furniture collection with a design-oriented public. The main mission of the museum is to inspire and educate students and young professionals in the field of architecture, design and crafts. The vision is to enhance the development of Scandinavian interior architecture and furniture design through exhibitions, seminars, lectures and workshops. To help bridge the gap between academy and business.
