Alexander Lervik graduated from Beckmans College of Design in Stockholm 1998 with the project 10 stools – 10 decades where he, for the upcoming millennium, wanted to illustrate the past with 10 stools for each decade. The project became a huge success for Lervik and went on a world tour for six years. Since then, Lervik has made several conceptual projects and exhibitions such as the Five Playful chairs at Gallerie Pascale in 2005 and Enlightenment at the Röhsska Museum of Craft and Design in Gothenburg 2007.
From his design studio in Stockholm Lervik works with product design, from bicycle lamps to furniture, architectural assignments and works of arts for Swedish and international producers such as Design House Stockholm, Johanson Design, Skandiform, Adea and Moroso. Of his most known pieces one can mention the Brighthandle door handle (2001), that communicates via colored lights and the Red chair made of seven bent steel coils (2005). Lervik has been the recipient of several major awards, such as the Red Dot Design Award (for the table Lucy in 2013), the Excellent Swedish Design Award (for the carpet Nordic in 2001) and the Elle Decoration Furniture of the Year Award for the Mr Jones sofa by Adea in 2017.
Lervik has had separate exhibitions at several museums and galleries in Sweden, and during 2018 the 900 sqm retrospective exhibition In the mind of Alexander Lervik was shown at the House of Culture in Stockholm. Alexander Lervik is represented at the Swedish National Museum and the Museum of Furniture Studies in Stockholm, the National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design in Oslo and the Röhsska Museum of Craft and Design in Gothenburg.
