Australian furniture designer Andrew Watts studied for a bachelor’s in Design Arts (specializing in furniture design) in Sydney before moving to Sweden, where he did a master’s degree in spatial design at Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm.
Watt’s degree project from Konstfack was called Contradictive Design and focused on a chosen set of materials that he deemed contradictive in their production capabilities andand focused on a chosen set of materials that he deemed contradictive in their production capabilities, environmental or social impact. These materials included aluminum, fiberglass, wool, and vinyl.
The project resulted in a sofa, a table, and an armchair. The latter was made in fiberglass and wool and was a part of the Ex-Works 2020 exhibition at the Museum of Furniture Studies.
