Bjørn Wiinblad stuided at the Copenhagen Technical College in Copenhagen from 1936 to 1939 and at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts from 1940 to 1943.
For a period, Wiinblad worked with Estrid Ericsson at Svenskt Tenn in Stockholm, but in 1946 Wiinblad was hired by the Nymølle Fajancefabrik while also working as a draftsman. Six years later Wiinblad founded his own ceramic workshop where he made both unique and batch production pieces.
Later, Wiinblad began working for Rosenthal where he designed porcelain, ceramics, and silverware of which Lotus from 1965 is one of the most prolific.
As a furniture designer Wiinblad is best known for the chair Marienlyst that he designed for Swedish bent -wood manufacturer Gemla in 1962.
Bjørn Wiinblad passed away in 2006 at the age of 88.
