Caroline Schlyter was still a student in sculpture at Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm when she in 1989 presented the chair Lilla-h (eng. Little-h) at the Stockholm Furniture Fair. The chair, which was only made in 20 numbered and signed pieces, immediately got a lot of attention and resulted in exhibitions in among others London and Tokyo.
From 2012 to 2014 Schlyter studied for a master’s in sculpture at te Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm. She followed up the success with Lilla-h with Lilla-m (Eng. Little-m) a children’s chair covered in cowhide. Three tables, a sofa, a tea trolley, and a mirror are also a part of the H-collection. In 2002 the omega-shaped tables Tripp, Trapp, and Trull were launched.
Since her debut in 1989 Schlyter has been represented in exhibitions all over the world and has been awarded the Excellent Swedish Design Awards several times. Lilla-h is a part of the collections at the Design Museum in London, the Swedish National Museum, the Vitra Design Museum, and the Museum of Furniture Studies in Stockholm.
