David Sjöberg studied a bachelor's degree in industrial design at Umeå University and later a master's at Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm, from where he graduated in 2022.
For his master’s degree project, Properties of veneer, Sjöberg focused on new ways of using veneer in furniture design. Through material research and use of new technology, Sjöberg concluded that veneer can take more complex forms and thereby be able to replace metal and plastic in furniture construction. To demonstrate this, Sjörberg designed an office chair made of solid wood and veneer.
Properties of veneer was a part of the Ex-Works 2022 exhibition at the Museum of Furniture Studies.
