Edvin Ståhl was born in the Swedish village of Lammhults in 1896. During the late 1920s, Ståhl and his brothers founded a wooden furniture industry producing a.o. stick-back chairs. The company was later acquired by KF (the Swedish Coop) but was led by Ståhl for a long time after.
In 1945 Ståhl started a small mechanical workshop in his home village called LMV (eng. Lammhults Mechanical Workshop). LMV produced mechanical details for oil burners as well as fittings and other metal details for the local furniture industries. But Ståhl couldn’t keep away from designing his own furniture and in 1955, the company launched its first furniture range and was renamed to Lammhults Möbel.
The first furniture produced by Lammhults Möbel was a stool called Model 282 -Taburett and the chair series Pyramid, both designed by Ståhl in 1955. Both pieces were simple and practical in design, made of bent steel tubing.
When Edvin Ståhl passed away in 1971, at the age of 75, his nephew Kenneth Ståhl entered as the company's CEO. Under his leadership, Lammhults became one of the most prolific Swedish manufacturers of furniture for public interiors. Edvin Ståhl's first chair and stool were relaunched by the Lammhults company in the 2000s.
