Danish furniture designer and interior architect Erik Wørts was a trained cabinet maker when he moved to Sweden and the NK Workshop in 1944. Together with a.o. Elias Svedberg, Wørts worked on the Triva collection – Sweden’s first flat package furniture – where he mainly specialized in construction.
In 1958, Wørts began collaborating with IKEA as one of the first designers connected to the company. At IKEA, Wørts played an essential part in developing their flat package furniture and designed the sofa Gråbo (1964) and the table Pop (1968). IKEA's successful dresser Tore was first designed by Wørtz in 1962 but updated by Gillis Lundgren in the following decade.
Erik Wørts passed away in 1997 at the age of 81.
