Evelina Björnqvist studied architecture, design and conservation at the Royal Danish Academy whereafter a bachelor’s in wood oriented furniture design at HDK-Valand Campus Steneby in Dals Långed.
In her degree project called The fickle shoe rack, Björnqvist created wooden and ceramic objects made for the hallway. With a focus on sensory experiences and the sounds they make, Björnqvist used the objects for an installation where the hallway is seen as an intermezzo a short dramatic, musical, or light characterful performance inserted between the acts of a drama or an opera.
The project was aimed to discover everyday life choreographies with the material world and to challenge the hallway’s practical tone. During the fall of 2022, The fickle shoe rack, was a part of the Ex-Works 2022 exhibition at the Museum of Furniture Studies.
