Giuseppe Terragni got his diploma in architecture from the Politechnico di Milano in 1926 and co-founded the rationalistic architect Gruppo 7 together with Luigi Figni, Gino Pollini, Adalberto Libera, Guido Frette, Sebastiano Larco Carlo and Enrico Rava. During the following year, Ferragni founded the Movimento Italiano per l’Architettura razionale.
From 1926 to -40 Terragni, designed several rational buildings including Novocomum flats in Como (1926-29), the Hall O of the Mostra della Rivoluzione fascista in Rome (1932), and the Kindergarten Sant’ Elia in Como (1936-37). For the Casa del Fascio in Como, which was completed in 1935/36, Terragni designed an armchair and the Lariana chair which were produced by Columbus.
In 1940 Terragni volunteered to fight in the Balkans and on the eastern front, where he died of was injuries in 1943. He is represented as a furniture designer at a.o. Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein and at the Museum of Furniture Studies in Stockholm.
