Hannes Åström graduated with a bachelor’s degree from LiU Malmsten in Lidingö 2020. While at Malmsten, Åström was commissioned by Karl Andersson & Söner to design a seating system in wood that could be built in different configurations. The result was the modular sofa Arcus, later known as Meander, which also was Åströms degree project. With Meander, Åström wanted to create a piece of furniture with a calm expression, with winding horizontal lines inspired by a meander, a river that eats its way through a landscape.
In 2020/2021, Åström was represented in the Ex-Works exhibition at the Museum for Furniture Studies in Stockholm.
