Ida Simma studied a bachelor’s degree at Beckmans Collage of Design in Stockholm. In her degree project 2022 Simma explored her interest in textile crafts and interpret textile craft methods onto a product within the field of acoustic design. The result is a sculptural, hanging sound absorber for public environments, named Pleat.
Pleat is designed to be equally decorative and functional, and its sculptural design language challenges the perception of what sound absorbers may look like.
The project was a part of the Ex-Works 2022 exhibition at the Museum of Furniture Studies.
