Johan Ansander has a bachelor’s degree in industrial design (2017) and a master’s degree in furniture design (2020) from Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm. Ansander’s masters degree project was called Local Practices and explored our relations to local resources and their origins. The material in focus of the project was wood and Ansander worked together with a small sawmill outside Stockholm where four prototypes were made with different levels of processing, from classic wood crafts to advanced production technology.
In 2020-2021 Ansander was a part of the Ex-Works 2020 exhibition at the Museum of Furniture Studies, showing the chair Maximus, one of the chairs from his master’s degree project at Konstfack. The Maximus chair was spotted by Johan Lindau, CEO of the company Blå Station and is now a part of their furniture range. The Maximus chair was one of the nominees for the Born Classic Award (a collaboration between Stockholm Furniture and Light Fair and the Bukowskis auction house). The Ansander's Maximus prototype from Konstfack is a part of the collection at the Museum of Furniture Studies.
Since 2021 Johan Ansander is working at the Fredrik Mattson Verkstad- a design studio in Stockholm.
