Johnny Sørensen trained as a cabinet maker before joining the Royal Danish Academy of Archtitecture, Design, Conservation in Copenhagen from 1963-66. Together with Rud Thygesen, Sørensen established his own design studio in 1966 from which they created furniture in the Scandinavian modernistic tradition.
