Lovisa Ingman studied a bachelor’s degree in industrial design at Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design. Her degree project Afterlife Life aimed to investigate in whether design as method can give new values and life to plastic waste, and to understand what the system for these materials looks like.
The result of the project was an armchair, with panels made of recycled refrigerators and keyboards, and the cover plastic of a disposable alternative to tarpaulin for winter storage of boats. To tackle our big plastic problem, recycling and reuse are two of many ways, for which design plays a crucial role and where the designer's choice of materials and methods are central, Ingman stated.
Afterlife Life was a part of the Ex-Works 2022 exhibition at the Museum of Furniture Studies.
