The designer Mathilda Högberg studied a bachelor’s in product design at HDK-Valand in Gothenburg 2019-2022. Her degree project named What Once Was Now highlighted the necessity of sloyd. To sloyd and craft has always been a necessity however todays lack of need to create has led some traditional techniques to fall in neglect. So - how can one use design to create interest around traditional crafts, Högberg asked? Her degree project focused on bobbin lace making, used as an example to create understanding of the time, materials and knowledge behind an object.
In 2022, Högberg was a part of the Ex-Works 2022 exhibition at the Museum of Furniture Studies with her project What Once Was Now.
