Pethrus Lindlöf didn’t get any classical education in furniture design or carpentry but was encouraged in the subjects of handicraft and art in school.
During WWII Lindlöf did his national service where he painted portraits to earn some extra money. Lindlöf also designed seating furniture and in august 1945 he founded Lindlöf Upholstery company in Lammhult which became Lindlöf Möbler in the mid 1960’s. Among Lindlöf’s designs the armchairs from the 1960’s and 70’s Bristol, Flamingo, Fokus and Rippi as well as the sofas Casablanca and California are the most well-known.
With the armchair Flamingo Lindlöf created one of the most advanced safari-models, consisting of a stand made of chromed steel pipes with leather seat, back and armrests. At the Swedish furniture fair in 1976 journalist Lena Larsson called Flamingo for “A classic in a modern edition: leather-safari”.
Pethrus Lindlöf passed away in 1988 at the age of 66.
