Rebecca Petrini studied a bachelor’s degree in upholstery at LiU Malmsten in Lidingö from 2015-18. At Malmsten, met furniture designer Joel Fjällström and together they designed the armchair Mammut that was chosen for the Young Swedish Design Award in 2018. The duo also received the Danish textile company Kvadrat’s scholarship.
Petrini’s Ester chair was designed at a course at LiU Malmstens and was in many ways starting point of Petrini's career as a furniture designer. During the development of Ester, Petrini realized that she could use her upholstery craft as the main tool in her design process. The aim with Ester was to give a generic steel tube chair an independent expression.
In 2019/2020 Petrini was a part of the Female Traces exhibition at the Museum of Furniture Studies in Stockholm.
