Stefan Borselius studied a bachelor in furniture design at LiU Malmstens, furniture carpentry and design at HDK-Valand, Campus Steneby and a master’s in interior architecture and furniture design at Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm.
For his master’s degree project at Konstfack Borselius designed the chair VEC with the car company Volvo´s showroom and dealers in mind. in 2002 he established his own design studio, Borselius Design, and worked during the first years in close collaboration with designer Fredrik Mattson. Their first project was the aluminum chair Sting for Blå Station in 2003, the same producer that in 2009 launched one of Borselius most well-known pieces, the voluptuous lounge chair Oppo.
Since the beginning of the 2000’s Borselius studio has made design for manufacturers such as Abstracta, Skandiform and Fogia. Together with the designer Thomas Bernstrand, Borselius designed the successful furniture series Bob for Blå Station, that revived the design magazine Form Award - Designer of the Year at the Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair in 2020.
