Möbeldesignmuseum at the Italian Cultural Institute.

During Stockholm Design Week 2020 the Italian Cultural Institute honors the design legend Vico Magistretti, who would have turned 100 this year. In an exhibition called Vico Magistretti and his legacy in Scandinavian design, the Institute highlights some of Magistretti´s masterpieces in furniture design and reflects on his importance as a precursor, also for Scandinavian designers. The object in the exhibition is a loan from Möbeldesignmuseum.  “With pleasure, we chare objects of Vico Magistretti from our private collection, and what could a better platform than the Italian Culture Institute, designed by Gio Ponti- another master of Italian architecture and design.   For us, the furniture design of Magistretti reveals an outstanding combination of thorough studies of functional needs, material possibilities, technical challenges and not least artistic integrity. He looked at usual things with an unusual eye… That is what made him one of the most important designers of the 2000 th century, says Lars Bülow, Möbeldesignmuseum.“
