The opening of the museum & the first exhibition Déjà Vu.

In November 2017 the Museum of Furniture Studies was officially opened, by an event with 300 special invited guests. The opening speech was held by the founders Kersti Sandin and Lars Bülow. They informed about their collection policy and declared the purpose of the museum concept, with the aim of inspiring and educating architect-, design- and crafts students. The same evening the first thematic exhibition Déjà Vu, showing how different design themes are repeated over time, was opened.

Josef Hoffmann

Josef Hoffmann was one of the co-founders of the artist and architect movement Wiener Secession in 1897 and the Wiener Werktstätte in 1903. Hoffmann designed buildings, furniture and objects that are seen as some of the greatest examples of the European art nouveau/ jugend style.

MDM Talks #10: We talked with the designer, Adrian Bursell. In 2020, Adrian graduated from Konstfack. For his graduation project, Sticks & Stones: Souvenirs from Öland, he designed a side table called "Lilla Alvaret".
