Thesis projects

3rD of SEPTEMBER TO 27th of NOVEMBER 2022
AT MÖBELDESIGNMUSEUM iN Stockholm, Sweden
EXHIBITION / EX-Works 2022

A platform for final year students from the Swedish design colleges Beckmans, HDK- Valand Design, Konstfack, Malmstens & HDK- Valand Campus Steneby. The 2022 exhibition showcased forty master’s and bachelor’s design students’ thesis projects.

For the second time, the Museum of Furniture Studies offers a common platform for design degree projects. Forty students from five design collages have been invited to participate in this year’s exhibition, almost double from the 2020 edition.

During most of their education, the students have lived with the restrictions of the Corona pandemic, meaning distance education and in some cases limited access to the schools’ workshops. If these practical limitations have affected the work results, it does not seem to be for the worse.

Ex-works 2022

We can see evidence of curious material exploration, intellectual form experiments, innovative technical applications, elaborate functionality, impressive craftsmanship, and far-reaching responsible circularity. This is liberating and gives hope for the future of the design and furniture industry.

Students meets the Industry

In September 2022, during the Ex-Works exhibition, the Museum of Furniture Studies arranged a match-making day for young designers to meet with the furniture design industry.

This was an exclusive opportunity for young and emerging designers to connect with leading companies in the industry and potentially jumpstart their careers. The event was a unique platform for young designers to showcase their work and skills to industry professionals, and to learn more about the various opportunities available to them.

The match-making day included presentations and one-on-one meetings, giving young designers the opportunity to network and gain insights from industry leaders and experts - a great way for young designers to gain visibility and industry recognition, as well as to connect with potential employers and collaborators.
